So we left you with uh episode 25 of season three, uh, which was a fantastic interview with Ed Zwick a few weeks ago. We've taken a pause um because we needed a recharge. Noah's very busy in his industry in a slightly weird way, and then we're about to restart again tomorrow with the second half of season three with an excellent guest. But before we do that, Noah, it seems there's some love for you from our listeners, which I obviously find a bit odd. Um, and I think because you're like a famous writer, they want to know what you're up to. So who who where have you been fired from and what are you doing now?

What you didn't see was Dan's uh finger quotes as he said the word famous, and I will use double finger quotes as I respond. Uh Matt, it's been there's been a lot going on. I think there's been a lot going on for both both of us. Uh, but for me, I was transitioning. NCIS Hawaii was sadly and fairly brutally uh canceled. So for the NCS Hawaii fans out there, that was hard for all of us. We you know haven't spoken really publicly about it, but just know it was a blow for a lot of people. Uh, cast, crew, creators, writers, everybody was shocked that that show went away and really saddened because we had such a good fan base. Uh, but I got lucky and I was able to pivot over to an exciting new show that's airing on Fox in a couple of weeks called Rescue High Surf, which is a surf rescue show. And if you know, if you follow me on social media, you know that I love surfing, I live in Hawaii. So this was a nice uh transition for me, sort of soft landing to go and work on a different show. But that show is the Red of Room has wrapped. We are now on an extended hiatus, and as we wait to see if the show is picked up for another season, so I am back in a limbo. I do have a project, I don't think I can say where, uh set in Hawaii for a streamer that I'm really excited about. And that's the last thing kind of on my plate as we wait to see what's coming down the pike, not only for me, but for everybody, because this has been a really, really hard time in Hollywood where I think something like 45% of our workforce is currently unemployed, and that's across the board. So uh that's me. Dan, how you been? What have you been up to?

So just to clarify, uh you went for an interview on a show about three years ago wearing your short sleeve shirt so they can see your Hawaiian tattoos, so you could get hide on that show. Uh it was a great show, actually. Um, and I was lucky enough to meet, although, albeit sadly, during the strike, I met some of your uh we've had a couple of showrunners on this show, but I met some of your your crew and your cast on that, and it was it was great, and you could see what it was doing for Hawaii. Um I remember during the during the strike when we met up to do a big photo shoot of is it called Diamond Head? Um like there's a real love for that show and that industry there, and obviously it is very sad that the show was cancelled, although obviously because you've got your you know, you keep telling everyone you're Hawaii and you always pronounce it so it sounds more Hawaiian than when I pronounce it. That was obviously enough to get you on another show, so congratulations. Um, so what have I been doing? To be honest, much of the same, just running a football team. Um, the script I wrote now six years ago still hasn't really gone anywhere. Um, so I'm just continuing to not be in Hollywood apart from apart from this podcast. But talking of this podcast, so we're very excited. So as we've we've you know, we're back for another 25 episodes, but it'll be at least 50 because we're gonna definitely do a season four because we are once again partnering with Script Station, um, the software that obviously you use and I don't. I think we've we've both missed hearing people's stories of rejection and failure. It's probably worth touching on our first episode, so it will be uh the 26th episode of this season, but the first one for the second half of the season. We had our first 4A into the world of stores. Um now it was an excellent episode because the guest was British, so obviously that just brings up the level of it. Uh, but Gary Witter talking about his experience on rogue one, and as you'll hear in this episode when it drops, it really is almost the hey Siri, give me an example of how Hollywood can be so brutal. Give me some great examples of rejection failure in adversity. It's almost an episode that sums up why we set this podcast up 130-something episodes ago.

At some point in the episode, uh, Gary went on a rant, a monologue, made a statement, whatever you want to call it. He went, he just sort of began speaking and so powerfully and eloquently summed up everything that we are, you know, everything that we are trying to do in this podcast about failure, rejection, the things he went through, the importance of failure as a stepping stone to success, uh, talked extraordinarily candidly about his career, about some of the things he faced while you know writing a number of hit movies. And it was, it was uh, you know, I think reconfirmed for both Dan and I why we do this podcast, because he was it, it just you know, this it helped make me feel like the struggles that I have are you know you know are real, but that other people are going through it and often in in bigger and more meaningful ways. And I think you know our listeners will feel the same.
